1. Why are you running for office and what qualities, training, experience and skills do you bring to this position?
My fellow citizens of Miami Dade County. I am Rubin Young a US Army veteran and along time resident of Miami Dade County.
As the elections approaches, please consider casting your vote for me Rubin Young a Nonpartisan candidate for 2020 Miami Dade County Clerk of the Circuit Courts on November 3, 2020.
I first ran for the position of Miami Dade County Clerk of the Circuit Courts in the 1990s, when I was 28 years old after my boss Richard P. Brinker County Clerk had announced he was retiring.
Now 30 years later I still desire to be your next Clerk of the Courts.
As you know much has changed over the past years and I've learned a lot about the political process. Especially, when I worked for the Florida House of Representatives as a District Legislative Assistant II, District 109.
I have an Executive Bachelor's in Business Administration and I'm studying to be a paralegal at MDC COLLEGE Law Center.
My journey have not been easy, but I keep going despite everything else.
2. What are the 3 most important issues facing your community? For each concern, how do you propose to mitigate/improve/resolve the issue?
Fiscal responsibility should always be the personal goals of this County with a budget of $5,675,896,000. Why are there so many homeless veterans living on the streets. Why are there so many construction projects that excludes neighboring citizens impacted by these disparities. It's the job of the County Clerk to ensure that all citizens benefit from the County's growth and developments. The Miami-Dade County Home Rule Charter was adopted May 21, 1957. It says "We, the people of this County, in order to secure for ourselves the benefits and responsibilities of government to serve our county in the present and future".
